Gulf Air For Another Turnaround Plan

Thu May 02, 2013 10:50 am

Sad to see an iconic brand reduced to a regional carrier. I still see hope for this carrier and can revive as a boutique carrier of the Gulf.

They also report reduced losses (by 50 percent) in the 1Q.

Gulf Air's latest attempt at a turn around, launched in late 2012, appears to be quickly producing concrete results for the struggling Bahraini national carrier. The latest in a long line of revival attempts, the plan has dramatically downsized the Gulf’s oldest airline in an attempt to end the years of heavy losses.

At the end of 1Q2013, Gulf Air announced it achieved a 21% cut in overall costs during the quarter, crediting the improvement to a reduction in aircraft leasing fees, cuts to flight-related charges and staff expenses and the closure of loss-making routes.

Where does it say that Gulf Air will become only a regional carrier? I don't see any evidence to suggest destinations such as London etc. will be dropped and the A330s returned...

Maybe they can become a full service LCC, I would loved their livery to have had the Oman air belly colours I think it would've complemented the Falcon well, plus the Gulf air titles style from previous 90s livery.
