How many of those 777-300ERs does BA have on order?
To add to six in service they ordered two from Boeing in both September 2011 and again in July 12 for delivery in September and November 2013 and the same two months in 2014.
Then on 13 January this year it was announced that BA
had signed a ten year leasing agreement for another two 77Ws ordered by Air Lease (with three other frames) back in August 2011. They are slated for delivery in May and June next year. The suggestion was that the lease of these two aircraft was a previously unplanned long-haul capacity increase following the purchase of BD
and its LHR
slots by IAG
and its integration into BA
. The leasing option was said to have been chosen as being a route to a quicker order-to-in-service schedule.
The original six aircraft - two owned, four leased - were also an expedient negotiated with Boeing because of the delay in the delivery of the 787.
