If delivery is on 26 June then will not the arrival will be on the morning of 27 June? Or is delivery of the first aircraft on 25 June with an LHR arrival on the morning of 26 June? If departure from PAE was at 18:00 then arrival at LHR should be somewhere close 11:00 the following morning.

Presumably replacing the 763. If that's true, BA780 and 781. Any idea when they'll go on sale?!

According to someone seemingly in-the-know on another forum, "the B787 will be put on Shuttles to GLA, MAN and NCL, but no dates given for any flights yet."

Correct, but we have no idea of the dates yet. BA780 are on sale, guess the date!!!

At least when it does domestics you will get a great view as you are coached out. B787 does not fit on any domestic stands.

I will be on BA780 in mid August. Hopefully it will stay as a 787 until then.

The 787 would not be a permanent replacement for the LHR-ARN route, is it?

Surely that is just for fleet familiarisation for the crew, and as soon this is done the 787 will be deployed in Long Haul routes... I thought the 767's (even the short haul ones) were going to be in the fleet for a few more years, as they have just completed quite a major refurb of the cabins on these aircraft.

The B787 will be parked remote at ARN, so steps and busses.
It will park on gate 69 on Terminal 2. The B767 gate which is gate 66 is too tight for the B787, unlss the airport removes the Over the wing bridges, which they are not doing in time for August.

Not Yet! It will operate until the start of long haul flights to America. No dates released yet.

No it's just being used for training. UK routes will also be used for the 787 training but no further info yet available.

I note BA are proudly announcing the forthcoming arrival of their A380 on Facebook, but absolutely nothing about the B787s.

I'm hoping YYZ will be one of the early adopted routes, as I'm booked on a 767 outbound in the Autumn.

By "replacement," I meant on a temporary basis for crew training and logically replacing the 763s during that period.

Given the uncertainty until very recently over when Boeing were to be in a position to deliver an 787 to BA its not surprising they haven't said much about it - they probably earned a very salutary lesson after Thompson heavily promoted their 787 services only to have to backpedal pdq once the battery issue arose.

I am sure they will be shouting from the roof tops their position as the first European airline to have both A380 and B787 soon enough.

At Manchester the B787 can get onto one domestic stand, No 44.

But it is not flying MSE to FRA.
The flying at Manston is pilot training. It will be flying to France and back doing circuits for pilot landing practice..
The FRA trips will be substitutions on regular scheduled flights from LHR.

I just hope that BA is going to announce some training flights with pax soon. Really liked the way AF did it on their CDG-LHR-CDG route, tickets were able to book way in advance to during that period, BA is already late.

I read on previous thread that, when AF's 380 went technical there was chaos at CDG and people were very unhappy. May be BA want to play cautious game here and don't want to put themselves in a position to have criticism from people and media + chaos at LHR.

Passenger loads will be capped at the configuration for an A320, so should anything go wrong they'll be able to substitute the aircraft with minimal disruption.
One good thing to note is that the system won't show a flight being operated by an A380 until 48hours before (I'm not sure if this applies for 787).

Only the main deck Club World and World Traveller cabins will be used for short haul flights however occasionally the upper deck will be used instead.

It is too late for criticism by passengers. Just listen to the people now flying with BA that I have heard.

Maybe you are right but it surprises me. Two nose in stands on terminal 2 are originally built for planes up to DC-10 size, stand 67 and stand 69 I believe. So the 787 will fit nicely. The overwing bridges are moved away and will be no problem... What is your source?

It is gate 63 and 66.
We use 66 for the B767, and it is a tight fit for the loaders.
Yes the B787 will fit in 66 according to the simulation by Swedavia. But the wing tips (B787 is much wider wingspan than a B767) will be very close to the bridges. The cargo loader will have to drive under the bridges, or the wing, to reach the fwd hold. BA Ground Safety will park it on 69. It is not worth it for a couple of weeks. If it ever became permanent, the bridges would go.
