Aircraft Seen At Filton

Mon Jun 17, 2013 7:24 pm

I saw an aircraft in one of the old hangers opposite the Post Office Depot.

It looks like a large twin Turboprop, (I did consider the HS748/YS11/Andover). I also thought of the old Gulfstream 1, but the angle of the tailplane leading edge is wrong.

The leading edge of the tailplane is almost vertical, and the plane is white.

I did try a picture but the quality was not good.

It seems to be under maintenance.

Any ideas appreciated.

I assume that it would have to be roaded out.

Post it and Im sure someone can identify it. Could be the angle is causing a misconception.

Sorry for the delay.

Also it is a poor image, partly because I did not see the aircraft until I came to print these shots.

I can't help you with the type, but I'd be interested to see the rest of your photos of FZO. It's such a shame to see such a once important airfield closed down.

What could have been, eh?

I don't think it's a plane, I think it's a helicopter.

Another possibility, given that there is some talk of a museum, and they were moved out of Kemble last year.

I have just checkd the two possibilities;

All the evidence suggests that XG452 is still at WSM.

www.bristolaero.com/location.htm indicates that the Bristol Aero Collection has 2 hangars on the North side at Filton.

Thanks for the steer.
