Congrats to them. This has been coming for a while as BZN was steadily gaining on BIL. In fact, I thought they had already claimed the title a year or so ago, but I could be wrong.

What will also be interesting to watch is to see if SLC, DEN SEA or MSP as the highest number of seats at most Montana Airports. BZN is a horse race between DEN & SLC the last I checked, DEN has the lead at BIL & the smaller eastern airports. But SLC still is holding firm on the GTF, HLN, BTM, FCA & MSO.

I would imagine US/AA will be in BZN fairly soon.

From which hub? Montana is part of that big hole in the US/AA network. I think especially if PHX is downsized, AA is probably more likely to start moving westward from ORD in terms of expanding into new markets but I think BIL will likely be served from ORD while BZN is more likely from DFW. Montana is a nonstarter from LAX, in my opinion, and in terms of west coast service is best off utilizing an AS codeshare to SEA and PDX.

The airport has been openly courting AA flights to DFW for some time now.

Here is total number of outbound seats from BZN for the week of July 7-13. I realized after starting this that Sunday July 7th has a reduced schedule to a number of destinations compared to surrounding Sundays. I'm not sure why this is, but you can assume that this represents less than peak summer numbers. I don't know exactly which aircraft configurations are being used by UA and DL on some routes, so I guessed. DL to MSP is the heaviest route by a single carrier. DEN has the most seats when you combine UA and F9. Is BZN the only Montana airport that still has F9 service?

DL:
LAX: 76 weekly seats (1 CR9)
SLC: 2388 (28xCR2, 13xCR9)
MSP: 3232 (13x738, 6x320, 2x319)
ATL: 510 (2x752, 1x320)
UA:
EWR: 146 (1x320)**
DEN: 2788 (21xCR2, 15xCR7, 1x73G, 5x319)
SFO: 366 (1xCR7, 6xCR2)
LAX: 396 (6xCR7)
ORD: 1320 (20xCR7)
AS:
SEA: 1064 (14xQ400)**
PDX: 456 (6xQ400)**
F9:
DEN: 828 (6x319)**
G4:
LAS: 300 (2xM83)
AZA: 150 (1xM83)**

** These routes have an additional frequency on Sundays in surrounding weeks, and look to be reduced on 7/7.
