Thai Returning B777s To Jet Airways?

Mon Jun 17, 2013 11:35 pm

I was surprised to see Turkish Airlines B777-300ER at the weekend registered as VT-JEN until I realised it was one of the ex Jet Airways aircraft off lease from Thai. Does anyone know what's happening now Thai have five new B777-300ERs themselves? I read that they had parked the Jet Airways frames, I assume at Don Muang. Anyone know if they're still there and where they're heading next?

Also are the Thai A340-500s visible at all in storage?

Hi Skipness,

I saw two of these ex-TG aircraft on Skyliner last week, though they're not there anymore. I know that some of the ex-Jet 77Ws are going from TG directly to TK and I know 'JEN was one of them; I'm not sure how many TK is taking. They have new 77Ws on order, as you may be aware, and I presume these aircraft are just intended to bridge the gap.

TG has another 77W due within the next month or so ('TKP, which I saw photographed on Matt Cawby's website); I presume that once it is delivered, another ex-9W 77W will be released to TG.

Don't know anything about the A345s, however looking at Google maps, I can see one near the maintenance hangars and two more down near the cargo area. Of course, this is probably quite some time ago - don't know when the satellite image was taken.

Hi Skipness

As of 2 weeks ago 2 of the A340-500s could be seen from the elevated tollway alongside Don Mueang parked by the old domestic pier

VT-JEQ is now in full Jet colours although I am not sure which one this was with Thai.

Skip confused you will be !

All remain JET Airways (India) frames as the primary lease

All are returning from Thai and some going onto (back to) Turkish.

In the transition just to confuse all are taking up new Indian makings.

On arrival in Turkey THY are expected to register them in the TC-JJ- series. Those that have been operated by THY before may get a new TC- JJ- serial rather than the same as previously allocated.

Turkish should be receiving 3 frames

JET will continue to operate just four - three for LHR services and one other .

One is stored at DMK thats VT-JEQ c/n 35161

Actually, it's active - it's been operating to/from HKG recently.

I believe it's the rules of Indian Aviation Authority, but someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Jet only flies A330s to USA i.e. is A333 to Toronto and A332 to Newark.
The Indian authorities only allow you to use a aircraft registration once.
Once a aircraft registration is cancelled from the Indian register it cannot be reused.
So once B77W VT-JEA was cancelled from the Indian register for it lease to THAI, it could not then take up this registration again on its return from THAI lease.
VT-JEQ is former Jet Airways B77W CN35161 VT-JEJ and THAI HS-TKJ currently active for Jet Airways
VT-JEN is former Jet Airways B77W CN35157 VT-JEA and THAI HS-TKG current active for Turkish
VT-JEP is former Jet Airways B77W CN35158 VT-JEB and THAI HS-TKH currently stored at BKK prior lease to Turkish
VT-JEM is former Jet Airways B77W CN35162 VT-JEF and Turkish TC-JJB currently stored at IST prior to new Turkish lease.

As far as i can gather Jet currently only operate the 77W on following schedules

DEL-LHR-DEL daily
BOM-LHR-BOM UPTO 2 daily (ONE ROTATION ON A A333 PER WEEK)
BOM-HKG-BOM daily

All others are on A332/333

VT-JEN is scheduled into LHR on TK1985 today at about 15.15

Instead of going back to 3-4 years ago and recreating a first class, the first cabin can be used as business class and the business class seats can be used as comfort class (premium economy).

I dont know about Jets 77W business class, but TK's comfort class is in par with most Business Class seats of other airlines.

Why do you ask ?

They are relatively low density and operate India- Europe.

Not exactly needing all that up lift !

By the way I understand that from August Hong Kong goes to an A333 and with the extra 77W (VT-JEQ) back on line
they are going to deploy 2 no frames on the BOM-BRU-EWK-BRU- BOM routes

The LHR services remains up-to 3 daily (One A333 rotation for MX)

I want to know on what routes TK will be able to use them on.

So if you know, please enlighten me!

Oh yes I get you, sorry about that!

I think HS-TKS has been returned as well. I may have a work thing out there next week so I was keen to catch some of them and maybe photograph the A345s.

As you can see in 777way's photo, Jet's business class has herringbone-style lie-flat seats which are at least on par with TK's own business class seats (and arguably better since they are more private and have direct aisle access). Jet's first class has fully enclosed suites. When TK previously operated Jet 77Ws (before TK received its own 77Ws), it sold these cabins as business and first class, so I would expect it to do the same again, but like 777way I'd be interested to know where TK will use these aircraft and how they will use the F class.

Apparently been active for about 10 days or so !

Currently the Jet aircraft in THY service are plying DXB-IST-LHR and return on daily basis.

The eight suits are being sold as business with loyalty card high status frequent flyers getting the up grade.

The Jet Business Class seats look very good. However, TK will not reintroduce First class again, thats for sure. Lets see how they will utilize F and J section.

I think this already answered, doubt its only for the DXB-IST-LHR route.
