What Happens When Aircraft Change Owners?

Fri Oct 27, 2000 2:17 am

Hey all! I've been wondering, what happens when an aircraft is sold by one airline to another? Does the aircraft undergo some sort of inspection? Is there some sort of down time during which the interior is changed out or cleaned up, the aircraft re-painted? Does anyone know details? And what about leased aircraft as opposed to purchased ones?

Thanks!

Yes of course to all of the above. Usually the aircraft will receive a bridging check onto the new operator's maintenance programme; at which time the new livery, interior etc will be applied. Same applies to leased aircraft.
