Can't find the reg on Flightradar24... Since it crashed off 28R is it in the bay?

EDIT : Seems like the reg was already found... Sorry.

I just confirmed there is a crash on the approach end of the 28's. The plane is broken in multiple pieces. It appeared to the controller I spoke with that it was a hard landing and the tail is yards away from the body of the aircraft. It was possible a short landing or hard touchdown.

Looks like majority of fuselage is intact. Nose looks to have snapped off with tail nowhere to be seen. Hopefully most of pax and crew have survived but wouldn't be surprised if there are some fatalities up front.

Actually looks better than I thought. Fuselage seems intact although tail is missing. Kinda reminds me of the BA038 crash, but I don't know if OZ 777s are equipped with RR engines.

Edit: after viewing for pictures it looks bad for rear of the aircraft. Such a shame.

Yes that was what I was thinking. An intact fuselage is hopefully a good sign. The 772 is certainly powered by PW

Here's the first media account I could find......I don't understand the part about the plane coming to a rest, "upside down".....looks right side up, to me.......

http://www.ktvu.com/news/news/local/...7-crashes-while-landing-sfo/nYfcx/

KTVU.com

A plane crashed while landing at San Francisco International Airport Saturday morning after its tail came off while it was touching down on the runway.

According to a witness, around 11:20 a.m. the plane was just about to land -- its landing gear had come down -- when the tail of the plane came off.

After wobbling for a minute, the aircraft flipped upside down, coming to a stop on runway on it's back.

The plane, reportedly a Boeing 777, was coming from South Korea, according to flight tracking information.

From the video, it looks like the fire has not reached the cabin, it looks to be behind the aircraft, maybe where the tail section is. and I see slides deployed so an evacuation has occurred. Lets hope for the best. Looks awfully similar to the BA LHR incident.

CNN is just now reporting it. It's pretty bad that it took them over a half hour after it happened to first report it. Just shows you how social media breaks news in a more efficient manner than mainstream media.
