Aeroflot's 90th Anniversary Jet SSJ100

Wed Jul 10, 2013 12:23 am

Not sure if this was posted elsewhere on this site, but the "other website" has a picture of an Aeroflot SSJ-100 painted like the plane in the picture below.. For those who think the new AA colors is ugly, this one most defiantly takes the cake.

Are they actually planning to paint the wings? It didn't look like a reflection.
The plural of Airbus is Airbuses. Airbii is not a word.
There is no 787-800, nor 787-900 or 747-800. It's 787-8, 787-9, and 747-8.
A321neoLR is also unnecessary. It's simply A321LR.
Airplanes don't have isles, they have aisles.

I think it looks great! Stylish, yet traditional. I don't think its aiming to be modern more reflective on the past. As a special scheme I think its great! Reminds me of a russian version of a couple of the CA ones drifting about.

My nesting doll was wondering where her apron went.    I sort of like it. It is colorful.

The new AA colors involve random gradient trash passed off as "abstract art."

This at least has some sort of class to it. However, as mesaflyguy stated, it looks like a grandmother's couch.

Well, I like it. I keep thinking of Kuban Airlines, for some reason...
Either way, it's a nice commemorative scheme.
Anyone here have background info on it?

And, it'll definitely grab attention.

Slightly off topic, but I like AA's new scheme now. It. Grew on me.

I always wondered what happened to my high school prom date's gown! If this plane and the new American A319 had a baby, I wonder what it would look like?

Finally a special livery that is actually 'special'. great for a 90th....suitable for a 90 year old's curtains.

So you are slamming a livery that uses imagery that pertains to the traditional culture of a national airline? For a special scheme commemorating decades of service, I don't see how this is an ugly livery. This is obviously not livery for all aircraft in the SU fleet.

It is... daring. Good for them. I cannot say it bores me. I like it *much* better than AA's A319 livery.

Why on a little regional jet? You would think they'd put such an important livery on a plane that'll go to international destinations, etc.!

Quoting BEG2IAH (Reply 14):

I was. Not that bad. At least not in comparison to the livery that makes we want to..

In all seriousness, it's not a bad special livery at all. I think what drags the livery down is that the fuselage is gray mica which makes the orange look dull, though it really isn't. If SU's livery was white that orange would POP.

Except that would defeat the purpose, as it's the livery is commemorating their 90th aircraft.... I don't think reshuffling their deliveries would be warranted.

You beat me to it, this is a colorful, very a authentic looking Russian pattern, that I'd expect some Russian people are very proud of. It's not my taste, but I did not grow up someplace this would have been common. Well maybe Southern California in the late 60s - early 70s.

Kinda reminds me of AQ, oh no, TS in the 70's with their bathtub decal look:

I loved the livery. And in any case, it's far better than the 767 they painted with those giant red motifs over the standard livery. Was that for the football World Cup, or the Olympics?

I like it but I would have preferred to see it on an Airbus, it's much more attractive than their current A320 retrojet.

The theme of the Aeroflot retrojet is the same, "Khokhloma", Russian traditional hand painting, that has it's origins in the 17th century. Nothing says national Russian air line, that this and indeed it looks awesome.

I completely overlooked that, makes sense now! My first thought was that they'd want to have as much exposure possible.

Off-topic. Why are those 757s engine nacelles so strange? Doesn't look like a normal RB211 cover!

If you're referring to the exhaust part of the engine then the simple answer is, first 757 were equipped with RB211-535c model and at the end of 1984, all RR 757 were equipped with RB211-E4 model, which has the traditional covered exhaust part.
