Max, I believe that AA is down to about 8 or so MD-11's.Last time I looked several were assigned to LHR routes ( maybe not by now), the DFW-SCL service and maybe MIA-EZE? Not many left. All going to Fed-ex. Several threads on this several weeks ago. Check them out.

As I recall, AA uses the MD-11 for:

I'm not aware of any others, unless it's cargo or they're being leased out. Last I heard they had 10.

AA cannot operate DFW-LHR, maybe its LGW you were meaning.

DFW-LGW is right, although they sometimes switch it so that DFW-FRA gets the MD11 and DFW-LGW gets a 777 in addition to a 763.

They pop up in LAX every now and then too. I've seen several there over the course of the summer...

Actually, DFW-LGW gets both a 777 and an MD-11 as well as a 763. DFW-FRA gets an MD-11 as well. DFW-NRT has been serviced by a 777 for well over a year now.

1. I was wrong on LHR. It is indeed DFW-LGW.

2. There are 2 flights from DFW to NRT. The first one uses a 777, the second a MD-11 (at least as of a few weeks ago).

I'll be posting an offical fleet roster shortly. Look for "AA Fleet Roster".

All MD11 flights are currently based at DFW and will remain that way until the fleet is retired.

Current routes

Current aircraft fleet is at 8 a/c with the next one leaving the fleet 12/15/00.

The MD-11 on DFW-NRT is actually a JAL flight codeshared with AA.
