First 787-9 Rolled Out

Thu Jul 18, 2013 1:29 pm

I felt a new variant of a major commercial airliner warranted a new thread.. so without further ado, here is ZB001.

Photo source: http://www.seattlepi.com/business/bo...ow/Boeing-787-9-roll-out-66549.php and credit to the photographer.

Thanks to KarelXWB for posting this link in the 787 production/delivery thread.

A much better proportioned airplane IMHO, the 787-8 looks a bit too stubby.

Hopefully this is not a frame which is being held up by some temporary bolts and fasteners...

It's the third aircraft to go into service with NZ. So I hope it will be too..

Same feeling I had when the 763 rolled out. Nice looking plane, it could really male some liveries stand out, IMO.

She's a beaut!

Agree on the proportionality...I thought the same way with the 777-300, that is was a bit more filled out and visually impressive than the -200.

It's the GE90s that make the 77L & 77W look better proportionately...the old 773s just look anorexic by comparison

I'm thinking it should be flying between very late August to early September depending on how ground testing goes.

Much, much prettier than the -8, and the -8 isn't a bad looking aircraft. (Lends some hope for the real ugly duckling of the air, the A380, should that ever grow into a 389.) And if a slightly stretched 789 looks this good, the -10 will only be better. Hopefully, no teething pains for this one.

Beautiful aircraft.

I have to admit, when it comes to looks, Boeing absolutely nailed it with the 787. Every single one, -8, -9 and -10 look just perfect to me.

I cannot wait to see what they will do with their new narrowbody, once it finally arrives after MAX.

Those wings are gorgeous too. I saw JAL's 787-8 lift off from SAN a few days ago and with the wing flex, even from a distance you could tell it was a 787. Really beautiful plane. Now let's get her flying!

Now that is a beautiful airplane!! The 787-8 is simply to short and looks weird from certain angles but the 787-9 looks good that should mean that the 10 will look amazing.

These pictures were taken in the course of a move from the assembly line to the paint hangar. The aircraft will apparently be wearing the MAX livery.

I was aboard AC 876 a 77W yesterday morning into FRA and we parked alongside an ANA 788 serial no ending in13. my first impression was that it was almost petit except that it was just a trifle chubby.

Which was to be expected. Longer fuselages tend to give airplanes a better and more elegant look. Luckily the B787-9 is no exception to that "rule".

What a delight. It is far more comparable to the A359 in terms of aestethics than the 788.

This was my first thought as well. The 787 has larger windows thus giving it the impression of being smaller than it really is. If you compare it to the 767 side by side you get a better perspective of the situation and realize that this is quite a large airliner. Once you fly it, the aircraft will seem larger especially when you look down the aisles.

Any idea if the -10 will be a 5 door?

Let's hope that she won't be delayed too much.

Considering that Boeing has already certified and tested the -8, do they need to do everything again for the -9 or can they cross-apply paperwork and whatnot?

The Mexican Air Force should also be receving one in 2014, so that probably would be one. I think some of AM´s too are coming on in 2014, must be last quarter though.
