But an angled floor like an A330. A 764F would have required a modified nose gear like the A330F.

She may not be the most modern, but the 767 is a dependable workhorse. Glad to see them in FDX colors.

Well that's a surprise. Thought it will comes out at the third quarter at the earliest. Looks sleek.

Don't know anymore which powerplants FedEx elected. CF6-80s or PW406X? I can not visually differentiate them.

Both. Not directly of course, as the 767 carries a lot more than the A310. But backfilling with 757s and permanent swaps will take care of that.

The thing is - its new avionics perhaps, but is the actual layout any different? Its certainly not the large multiple screens of the 787, its a smaller number of displays split into smaller screens.

Not sure what you mean by "split into smaller screens". Those are simply 3 large LCD displays and you can choose many different display choices (as is shown in the artists rendering in the AWST blog article). Those are large screens, not the small screens. This is a major display upgrade.

The first three aircraft will be delivered with the classic original cockpits, the fourth aircraft N104FE will be used for stc approval of Rockwell Collins 15inch displays and hud system in early 2014.

Compared to the cockpit of the KC-46.

Any idea if they will be based mainly out of MEM or EWR? The early morning MEM-IAD FX flight is operated by a DC-10. Would love to see the 763Fs start coming to IAD. I have noticed that on rare occasions, 5X has swapped out the daily A310 with one of their 763Fs. Long live the 767!

A real possibility, IMHO. They have 200+ a/c that will need to be replaced (A300/A310, DC-10 & eventually the MD-11's), and I think the 763F will be a nice replacement for the A300/310, and DC-10's.

Considering the deal Boeing can probably give FX on new build 767's, since the plane long ago paid for itself and the fact that new passenger orders are almost nonexistent now, I think a 100+ fleet is very realistic

I think ROC is a prime candidate to downgrade from MD10 to either A306 or 767 (I'm aware one of the daily flights is already an A306). I'm at this moment looking at some strong evidence of the possibility.
