Seats On AA's 767-300ER's To Hawaii

Fri Oct 27, 2000 9:26 pm

Greetings to all,

As most folks know, AA is removing the DC-10's from their Hawaiian routes and replacing them with the 767-300ER's.

I will be traveling on the ORD-HNL route in April and I have a question if anyone can answer it.

I known that the configuration will be 2-2-2 (30 seats) in first and 2-3-3 (198 seats) in coach, does anyone know anything about these seats in both first and coach? (i.e. pitch, recline, video ,monitors, etc...). I'm just hoping that these "new" seats will be alittle better than the DC-10's seats. Thank you.

2-3-3 for coach doesn't sound right. AA has charts on their web site. May want to check it out.

The seating will be 2-3-2 in coach
The flight should be more comfortable with the 767
rather than DC10

Thank you to those who noticed the 2-3-3 seat arrangement, my mistake. I thought I had "proofed" my post well before I posted it. As mentioned by a following post, it is 2-3-2 seat arrangement in coach.

As for checking out there website, I have. Nothing is listed for the Hawaiian routed 767-300ER's as of yet. I just figured I would post this question in here because alot of folks that post in this forum seem to have "alot" of inside info.

Service ORD-HNL is on a 767-300ER configured in 14 F-class 30 B-class 159-Coach. The aircraft should be a new interior model. Legroom is great, service to HNL is wonderful, flight attendants dress in Hawaiian print unifoms. It's really nice, you'll enjoy it greatly...

Sorry for not putting this in my original posting, but I flew in an AA 767-? from LAX to HNL in February, and I found it very comfortable. Pitch seemed better than what I was accustomed to on AA. I don't know if that plane had been modified to add room. They had just started that project at the time. Also, AA has adjustable headrests, which were then new to me. That helped a lot. No question, the plane is more comfortable than a DC-10.

Please be sure to visit Pearl Harbor while you're in the HNL area.

HAP318 and all,

Think you got your capacity wrong--at least for future flights. Looked in SABRE for the HNL 763's and they have 30 F, no Business, and 198 Y seats. Looks like a completely new, albeit high-density, configuration. Didn't see a 763 config. for 14/30/159, closest was 14/30/163 for some 27 European 763's.

Will be curious to see if the "more room" campaign extends to Hawaii!

If you look under the aircraft info on AA's page. The 767's page says nothing about Hawaii configuration. But if you look under general fleet information I think it is, there is a remark next to 767 that says something like 9 767-300's will be configured with blah blah blah for Hawaiian services, or something like that.

Dadoftyler - ALL American Airlines airplanes, no matter where they are flying or what size they are, will be reconfigured to provide more room throughout coach. Flying in Delta's main cabin today made me realize just how nice that extra legroom is!
