TUL Offering Incentives For New Service

Sun Jul 21, 2013 5:47 pm

looks like maybe they are trying to attract Allegiant as they state they are even looking for non daily service. With the announcement of AUS by G4 wouldnt surprise me to see G4 try TUL.

I'd really like to see a daily MIA-TUL on AA.

Doubt we will see that. At least it's year-round, now.

I think we will see AA add a daily LAX flight, though.

If it weren't for the mx base, they wouldn't even have it...

TUL is trying to set itself up like OKC (there's always been a competition between the two...one side has a rather large inferiority complex), but the numbers just aren't there yet. If the Keystone pipeline goes through and they build that hub at Cushing, then maybe there'll be a bit more influx. But until then, TUL won't get to the levels of n/s service that OKC has.

Except they do. The maintenance rotation is no longer needed, but AA has kept the flight. It was to rotate planes for cabin reconfiguration.

I think TUL will certainly see CLT and possibly PHX after the US/AA merger for east/west coast connections. WN service is a big question mark for me once the Wright Amendment is totally repealed late in 2014, I am expecting reductions once they announce schedules.

Yeah saw that news few days back. It would be great to have few new service there. I hope they get routes which will be different from what OKC will get, so this way ppl can drive down to TUL and avail more routes.

I could see CLT for sure...PHX possibly but will have to see how AA uses that hub or pares it down a little since most of its flows can be duplicated by DFW.

I think if nearby XNA can have it, TUL can sustain it too.
Now more than ever, moving forward with the new American.

Not necessarily - don't forget XNA service is primarily driven by walmart. So even though TUL may have a larger population, walmart is the prime driver of business traffic (probably most traffic) at XNA.

TUL needs to be linked up with CLT! Ugh connecting through either ORD,DFW,ATL is a headache... CLT is such an ease..maybe 2 CRJ7 flights would be a good start
Next flight: TUL-ATL-CLT CRJ900 and MD88

We'll probably see TUL and OKC linked into CLT pretty quickly after the merger. Not sure what else they are going to be able to get in there right now outside of maybe G4. The good thing going for them there is OKC has little going on right now when it comes to actively pursuing new service. They are in a very strong "maintain" pattern right now but will support whatever new an airline wants to throw at them. Like WN/FL to ATL in exchange for MCI.

That's tough to say how much it will impact. Much of the upgrades are already in at Cushing with the pipeline from there south to Texas already complete. I think it will help though. Of course if OKC keeps growing like it is (rumors of two more towers coming soon for downtown), then it'll be tough for airlines to pick TUL over OKC. Which sucks that it has to be like that right now.

I really don't see why airports are trying to attract G4 service so viciously....they are a TRAVEL SERVICE, not much of an airline, and any one that I've talked to who has flown them said they'll never fly them again. These guys should be kissing F9's tail for more service

OKC will get CLT (and PHX back) before TUL. But yah, it's probably coming.

I know that AS has considered starting service to TOL. I think there would be room for both LAX-MEX and LAX-TOL for them and I would love to see AS dip their toe into TOL to see how it performs. There's easy freeway access for the millions that live in the southern part of D.F. and it is a relatively easy drive compared to MEX.

I think you got the wrong state and airport.

Yet they continue to keep filling their planes almost to capacity. It is like people that complain about Spirit but still end up going back.

Yeah that's what has my head scratching about G4. For the more educated flying public or for business travelers that I associate with, they'd never set foot in G4, but somehow G4 seems to attract everyone else.

So the educated and business folks avoid G4...what does that make everyone else? Tip - put the shovel down before you get too deep.

Aren't they making money hand over fist as their travel service that runs an airline? Wouldn't airports love to have Allegiant passengers fly out of their airport regardless if its a travel service or an airline? Passengers flying out make the airport money. Besides... by your logic your beloved Phoenix/Mesa Gateway shouldn't care if Allegiant comes or goes when really that airport needs Allegiant to stay and grow since Frontier flopped and Spirit is still incredibly minimal there.

Exactly. G4 has done a lot for smaller airports that have struggled to get new air service. No one should turn them away.
