As rabid as the Press is lately for airline "scares", and "disasters", you'd think something like this would have been reported by now.

I asked my cousin to make sure the details he remembered seeing and he stated it was a 777 and an A320. He was in the terminal when it happened. The livery he described on the 777 was that of a Star Alliance aircraft. I have been checking for any news out of LAX on this.

Could it have been a UA 777 into a DL A320 from opposite sides of the alley? Or UA 777 into a UA A320?

AC also brings 321s to LAX.

It could have been UA because sUA does have two Star Alliance 772ER. N218UA is flying IAD-NRT and was not in LAX at all today but N794UA which is currently in the air is flying LAX-NRT but is several hours behind schedule. I do not know the reason for the delay of flight 802 out of LAX but United did in fact have a sUA Star Alliance 772ER at LAX today. But if the tail of the UA plane was damaged as it has been suggested I highly doubt that the aircraft would be in the air on its way to NRT and as it stands right now UA fligt 802 is only 1:40 minutes behind schedule. Are you sure there was damage done to the plane or could it have appeared that two planes tails were touching simply from the position your cousin was standing in?
