The Oneworld alliance seems to be on the brink of breakup. Almost everyday, I'm reading some story about how its members are looking for a way out.
As far as I know it, British Airways seems to be trying extremely hard to get out of this alliance. First they were talking about linking up with Northwest when the whole KLM thing was going on, and now they're talking with Delta, Air France, and the whole SkyTeam Alliance.
At the same time, there seems to be all these rumour's going around that American Airlines wants to be part of Swissair's Qualiflyer Group. What's happening here?
AA and BA are in the Top 5 biggest airlines in the world! Delta may also be in that group, but they are not higher that American. So, why is BA trading the number two world airline with the number three? I don't get it.
Also, I don't think American and Swissair would even come close to the size of the AA/BA alliance. Swissair is around one third of the size of BA and is not even in the top 20 biggest airlines. Plus, the Qualiflyer group, as of now, contains only Europeean airlines. Although, I did hear today that Malaysia and Swissair are in some sort of talks.
What's going to happen to the other airlines currently in Oneworld? Qantas and Cathay Pacific are going to have to quickly find someone new. This whole debacle makes me so mad.
Personally, I very much dislike the Star Alliance and have always rooted for Oneworld to catch up. Now, it seems as though no alliance ever has a chance to compete with Star. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! I hate the Star Alliance!! Why can't all the airlines of Oneworld just live together in happiness?
