1st UAL 742 Retiree

Today, UAL retired its first 747-238. (actually yesterday ~ depending on your time zone 27 OCT)
3 more will be retired on 31 OCT.

Leased, not bought. And I believe it was from AA; that is where the term "lemon-sisters" was derived.
Also, UAL is terminating their lease early - despite the penalties they must pay.

Expect Northwest cargo or UPS to snatch them up if they want to expand their long distance overseas networks.

someone can correct me, but I'm going to say they had 7 742's.
