Like in 4 years they will get rid of the last one...I dunno if that changed though, but that was the last thing I heard about them.

I heard they were going to be retired in 2004 or 2005. Therefore, they still have a few years!

Aniway, they will have an other paint scheme before, a more professional one.

That planes registration is N282WA. Does this mean it used to with Western?

I believe all planes with an N***WA registration once belonged to Western Airlines.

It seems strange to see this bird in the new colours, but it looks cool!

Aircraft get painted at regular intervals, sometimes in coordination with their major overhauls. Thus, since the 727-200 will be with DL for a while, we will see some in their new colors. (Why would they repaint an aircraft in the old scheme?) The WA registered 727 and 737 aircraft in DL's fleet were acquired as part of the merger with Western.

Turn the colours on the tail over, replace "Delta" with "Aeroflot" and put it on a TU-154 and have we got a coulour scheme!

Seriously, just imagine. It would look great.

I can't help but assume that some of DL's B727s will go in for D Checks, and when they come out, they have to be repainted. Now, painting them in the Widget c/s or the interim c/s makes *no* sense, so why wouldn't you put them in the new c/s?

Though I’m not crazy about the new Deltaflot color scheme it’s good to see that the 727’s are being repainted in the most current colors. Long live the 727! Does my username betray my affections for the one of the greatest aircraft ever built?
