Too bad EVA doesn't do passenger flights into ATL, as I have a little cousin that would dig the Hello Kitty plane. Hello Kitty is a longtime phenomenon here in the States, as I remember Sanrio shops in some of the malls here back in the 1980s.

I noticed it only says LAX for the USA flights. Do they not use the same configuration on the flights to JFK too? Or is this going to be more of a promotional thing than anything, meaning only sending the Hello Kitty planes to certain places? I have no prior knowledge of this program except that they had planes decked out in Hello Kitty garb.

Cool. I wish I had a reason to take my daughters on the plane. Unlikely...

If you're interested, I wrote an article on EVA's Hello Kitty for Airways magazine earlier this year.

Agree.. only a pity that they don't fly to ZRH... But if I'm not mistaken VIE is one of there destinations. So hope they will go there one day and sure VIE in general interesting for spotting.

It's more of the case that they're only painting one 77W and they're going to send that one exclusively to LAX.
It's all about the destination AND the journey.

Flew with my boss last year HKG-TPE on a Hello Kitty 333. I thought it was just the outside that would get the makeover, but as people have pointed out it is inside too. I loved it, but my boss was unfazed, he is a dog lover!!

what about Vienna? It gets the A330 from EVA and they have A330 with Kitty on it. Has VIE a chance to see Kitty?

The Hello Kitty planes are A330-300s, which they use on regional routes. The longer A330 flights use A330-200s, and I believe all of those have the standard EVA livery.

The article also mentions CI introduced a 744 in special livery promoting "creativity and environmental awareness to the world". Does this mean an actual aircraft has been painted, or is this just a proposal? I haven't yet heard or seen evidence of an actual painted 744 flying around...

EVA's JFK flight arrives/leaves JFK in the dark, so the Hello Kitty won't be as prominent.

Is this going to be on the last B77W in the original special B777-300ER colours? B-16703? Her sisterships have been repainted recently, B-16701 into STAR ALLIANCE and B-16702 into standrd colours.

The three A333 are all Hello Kitty's, but there are also two 332's.

I haven't agreed with anything more that I've read on a.net in 2013. I would LOVE to see another 'Where is..' thread, but now "Where is HellyKitty!" Alas, we all know how much work the Petermax threads were. Work I truly appreciated for it was interesting see the life of one long haul airliner. So with that forewarning, I really hope someone would start a HelloKitty tracking thread.

Ken, thanks for sending me a copy of the article. I've been so busy at work that I haven't got a chance to read it, but I skimmed it just now and looks like it'll be a great read.
