Aerolíneas Argentinas Takes First A330

Wed Sep 04, 2013 3:38 pm

Aerolíneas Argentinas has taken delivery of it's first second-hand A330-200. The aircraft (MSN 290) with registration LV-FNI once belonged to Sabena. Three more second-hand A330s will join the fleet shortly and are all leased from ILFC.

That's a good looking airplane! I cannot wait to see it landing over my house going into JFK!

Wow she's beautiful!

Dream time: wouldn't it be lovely to see AR with A345 or A346 to do SYD!

Hopefully a game changer.. This airline is losing US$ 2M/ day. The taxpayers foot the bill.

They may have a terrible management crew, but the designers did a very good job on their new livery. Stands out a lot next to the "text on white" addiction.

Just a little something: isn't it a little bit dirty for a newly delivered frame?

Nice livery but I still miss their 80's livery mabe they could do a retrojet with one of those A330-200.

Some pictures of the cabin can be found here:

The economy seats look like and older style from the front but from the back you can see the nice PTVs! What size are they? 9" A big upgrade from the cabins on the A343 and A342! The mood lighting and the first class looks amazing! Good Job AR!

Hey maybe they can take up those 2 SQ A345s that will be retired after SIN-EWR an SIN-LAX are discontinued
And isn't VS looking to ditch their A346s? They should call up the Argentines

Good to see a new aircraft type in Aerolineas Argentinas colors.

With that said, I am underwhelmed by the A330. I used to love the plane. Looked so great in photos... until I finally got to see my first A330s in the flesh while traveling overseas over the summer. The plane is so 'vanilla' in person. Nothing exciting about it, at all. I saw both the -200 and -300 variants. The RR-equipped jets were the worst. Those Trents (I think they're Trents) looked terrible to me. I saw a GE-powered -200 operated by Air Mauritius, and it was the looker of all the A330s I saw. It was still quite boring. Just a personal opinion. I was just very unimpressed with the aircraft. Not trying to start a war, just giving my opinion. Still a marvelous aircraft for its capabilities.

I find the interiors on AR aircraft pretty retro... At least the interior on these 330s looks from this century. I agree about that livery though.

I haven't really kept up with the news with regards to AR, but it looks like this bird was sitting around for awhile.. Will the other A330s at least sport a fresh coat of paint?

Other airlines that are having $$$ issues seem to be following suit with a more simple livery, so why so AR flying around with this livery that probably costs a pretty penny to paint..

Thanks

Looks nice especially the outside. Why is AR always adding used planes? I don't think that's a logical branding strategy, I bet their interiors are all different.

JFK, right?

The Y seats look very retro. They should have an adjustable headrest. In any event, the cabin looks good. This is great for AR.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

That applies to long haul only. Their short haul fleet is mostly factory new.

Most likely it is because long haul planes are so much morr expensive and AR just doesn't have the money to front for a brand new A332 or 77W. How cool would a 77W look in AR livery!
