Never mind an A380 to LA, I'd take a DC10 to Kabul if it got me away from that racket.

   Agreed.

The A380 will serve BA very well imho, and suits her very well too. I am sure they will order more A380's later in the process, especially as the aircraft has proven itself in the BA fleet.

Reliability on the short-haul LHR-FRA-LHR rotations appears to have been excellent.

Between 2 August and 23 September G-XLEA operated a total of 76 LHR-FRA-LHR rotations. It operated BA902/03 on every Day 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 throughout this period - there were no Day 6 flights. It also operated BA910/11 on 32 of those 44 days.

Following delivery on 19 September G-XLEB took over on the 23rd. It operated the second rotation of that day, BA910/11, and has operated BA902/03 this morning (24 September).

Does anyone know if any of the above flights were significantly delayed?

There were a series of delays ex LHR due to upper deck airbridges not retracting: a T5 (repeated) failure rather than anything to do with XLEA/B, but HAL engineering are taking a very close look. Possibly just down to these particular brdges not having been used for an age yet still fully exposed to the elements....rust most likely!!

Please, let's just pause a moment and remember all those unfortunate souls who booked seats on the inaugural LAX flight only for BA to bring service entry forward...... Stop smirking there, I can see you.

Just a couple more hours to landing it seems, is someone ready at LAX?

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BAW269 flightradar seems to have lost it.

Congratulations to BA! This was a long day coming. When will BA receive their 3rd and 4th a/c ?
I'm sure they were filled to capacity today and will be this evening.
I wonder if they had some sort of A380 model and goodie bag for the passengers for these first two flights?

G-XLEA appeared to (on flight radar) just do a U-turn over Western Ontario yet is now back on course... Is the map prone to such mistakes or could it have hit turbulence?

Well it could be either, but I'd be pretty sure that it was a FR24 glitch - they happen every now and then.

When I look at the track on FR24, it looks pretty straight to me.

My apologies... I thought LHR-LAX-LHR could be done in a 24hr cycle, but I suppose that is cutting things very fineand only leaving about 1.5hrs on the ground.

Yes. MIA recently closed gates D1-D3 to upgrade it to an A380 gate.

Remember the North Terminal (Concourse D) is only for AA whom is a Oneworld member. ONLY Oneworld members park at the North Terminal. As we go back a couple months ago, we learned BA plans to flies the A380 to MIA. And have already notified MIA so they can upgrade a gate for the A380 since J17 is currently the only gate at MIA that is able to handle the A380. But J17 is for LH and it's A380.

G'day

BA 269 to LAX is operated by a 747 tail number G-BNLN with a delay of some 3 hours today.

The A 380 G-LEA operating FRA - LHR is due in LHR in some 10 minutes i.e. 7.38 local

I was under the impression LAX flights are now being operated by the A 380. So do they have an AOG or else what is the reason for the 747 being used now with a considerable delay.

Any insight is appreciated.

Cheers

No clue what the plan was for today, but LAX is not daily yet on the 380.
Also does not always operate on 269/268. Its doing 283/282 next week for example some days.
