Pilot Hours Regulation Plan Rejected By MEPs

Mon Sep 30, 2013 2:22 pm

"The European Parliament's transport committee voted to block plans to standardise the varying time limits for flying across member states." This came a s suprise as most thought it would pass.

"Balpa claimed the new rules, which MEPs could now vote on again in October, would allow pilots to:

land an aircraft after being awake for 22 hours
fly on the longest-haul flights with only two crew rather than the three at present
work up to seven early starts in a row rather than the current three allowed

It now goes back to committee again.

The European Parliament has backed a bill to regulate pilots' working hours despite its rejection by their own transport committee.

Article does not state when it will come into force.
