Which Airlines Has The Best Logo/symbol?

Tue Oct 31, 2000 6:02 am

Even "ugly airlines" sometimes have excellent logos/symbols. What are the best airline logos you like?

My 2 cents worth:

1. Northwest

Many other good ones: Aer Lingus, Icelandair, Gulf Air, Ansett Australia, Royal Jordanian, Lufthansa, JAL, Sabena, South African just to name some more.. maybe in some cases better overall tail design than the logo itself (eg: Ansett, Gulf Air)

In my opinion Saudi Arabian has one of the best- looking liveries in the world, and I simply love the tail- logo. The 777s that Saudi operate just look awesome.

Yes, I also think that Thai logo is very unique, having the Royal Orchid arranged in a very abstract way. I hope you also like the special colour schemes on B-744 and A330 that they came up with.

I like the 3D texturing and detail work of the current Air Canada and VARIG Brasil logos. In addition, the China Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Aloha Airlines logos are all nice as well.

I absolutely love China Airlines tails. Hawaiians is good. I like the new Continental and the old red Continental jet blast. Cathay and Singapore are good ones also.

The gray flag of US Airways!

In a manner of speaking, that makes US the "flag carrier" for America!

I will stick with Aeroflot, but I like BA and Delta as well.

I agree with quite a few of Caribb's choices - NW, AC, CO...

...and I'm going to be paranoid this time (like I've always been) and name this as my personal favorite.

Looks even better when placed (seemingly) randomly around the Canadi>n lettertype on non-livery occasions.

I don't want to be too biased in favour of Sabena, but...

While the S-logo in general has always looked good, I think designers have done a great job at refreshing it.

Mind you, the real old S-logo was pretty groovy as well:

I would say that Northwest's logo is the cleverest. China Airlines has the prettiest logo.

Qantas and Northwest have the best logos.
Qantas kangeroo on red is pretty, sweet and a perfect representation for its country.
Northwests N in a circle is clever and an excellent example for the designer´s guide "The simpler, the better".

After that I also want to mention Lufthansa (timeless), Saudia (great colours), Varig (nice update of an old logo), Air Canada (though a bit more red on the planes would be nice) and Continental (only the tail).

I like the Air Canada tail. Represents the country well. Also the USAirways looks great as well. Not enough dark airlines out there. AeroFlot could use a different colour scheme. but still I love the wings with the Hammer and sicle ( spelt wrong ) Aer Lingus looks great and Sri Lankan, looks much better than the Air Lanka look. The Old BOAC Look with the Speed bird on the tail. Just wish that they would bring that back to the paint scheme..
