SWA Pilots Fired?

Tue Oct 31, 2000 8:34 am

How so would the pilots both get fired because of the accident that landed the plane to the end of the runway and ended on the public streets...??

Who fault was it that SWA 737 landed that way..??

It was on the news last night on Texas Cable News, TXCN Channel 38.

This is an aweful news for the pilots if it was an accident.

Yeah, they were fired.

Total breakdown of crew coordination. They were coming in too high and too fast for the conditions. The Captain didn't do anything about it and the First Officer never queried him. Both crewmembers knew they were too fast and too high, but opted to continue the landing instead.

If the Captain fails to act, then it's the duty of the F/O to challenge him.

The SWA crew needlessly endangered the lives of the passengers by their reckless actions, the approach was bad, they should have discontinued it.

AFAIK, SWA is a non-union airline, but I’m sure that if the majority of their pilots felt that firing the crew was too severe, they would have strenuously objected.

SWA is a union airline, according to Herb.

I thinks both pilots needs to be in training, and wasn't paying attentions to their tasks when making approach or departure. Both deserves to be fired, they're lucky the passengers are still alive !!!!!!!!!!
