I still think about this sometimes when I fly. Mine was aboard an eight-hour UTA French Airlines flight from LAX to Papeete, Tahiti in 1982 after graduating High school. It was a DC10-30, the inflight mag mentioned movies and audio controls on the seat, there was a screen, but we had absolutely nothing. No movie, no audio. It was a night flight though, maybe that was it, but otherwise I could not understand why, nor did I ask since I was non revving on an interline pass. This was a very good airline, and there definately was service with 2 meals, but the only entertainment was watching the light on the wing light up the cloudy night sky.
