TWA Super Jet Titles

Thu Nov 14, 2013 2:17 am

Looking at photos from the early 1960s I noticed TWA had Super Jet titles on their Boeing 707s and Convair 880s instead of Star Stream. when did the name change take place? Did any of their Boeing 727s have Super Jet titles? DC-9s never had them.

IIRC, the Superjets were on the original 1959 rocket stripe livery. The Starstream titles came after Raymond Loewy added the double globe to the TWA logo in 1962.

Starstream came with the first fanjets,720Bs,707-131Bs,and 707-331Bs.These were the first to be called Starstreams and the engines were called Dynafans.
