Maybe it's just me, but I feel with the advent of the internet and all the 24 hour news channels, and web sites like this, that this particular crash has hit much closer to home. To be more clear, I live in the U.S. I would have to say that 10 years ago, I would not have felt any uneasiness about a plane crash in Taiwan (other than sadness for any fatalities). It just would seem too far away, like a different world, to think it could happen here. Nowadays, it seems like any plane crash could be local.
Also, as I page through airline magazines and look at the beautiful new "scheme" liveries, or bright colored flying billboard planes, it affects me differently when one crashes. i don't know why?, but it's harder to accept one of those fancy painted planes going down in flames. Maybe it makes people who are not professional travelers a bit uneasy to hear about those planes crashing. Strange thoughts I know, but I'm being honest.
Anyone have comments?
