BoraJet Turkey Acquire E190s

Tue Mar 25, 2014 6:55 pm

Turkish regional operator has agreed to acquire 5 E190 aircraft on lease from GECAS and options for 3 additional frames.

First 3 deliveries will occur this summer and are frames 0217, 0227 and 0233 from flynas.

I wonder if Bora will manage to place these aircraft in flying on behalf of Turkish Airlines as they do some of the current ATRs? A 100-seater could open up some interesting smaller markets for TK.

Great news,
I wonder if they will be based out of IST? Any slots left there?
"Bahadir", what do you think? Time to relocate again?

I read that 3 of them are coming from Nas Air and they are 190-100LRs with 114 Y seats.

114 - that will be a tight fit.

I've always scratched my head about Borajet and how it survives. Lets see if they announce some concrete plans for the E-jets. Certainly more expensive to own and operate then the ATRs.

great news and one I was definately looking after for so many years. I'm big of of the E-Jets and think it has a chance to increase the regional point-to-point flying within Turkey. I've also travelled with Borajet many times and see this airline-aircraft combination as a good match. But LAXintl is true in questioning the survival factors as a few flights I've been on had a private jet character with only and handful passengers.
This closes the gap between ~70seats ATR and >130 seats A319.
