While the idea is not impossible, it is HIGHLY improbable. Going back into DEN means going up against UA ... and UA would not just sit by and let it happen without a fight. What would CO gain by that?

Well... Continental owns part of Frontier or they are in cahoots with eachother. Frontier employees can fly on Continental for free just like they can on a Frontier plane. Continental added 2 737-800s and 1 757 to DEN schedule.

Continental's and Frontier's frequent flyer programs are interlinked as well, as any flights on Frontier count on my CO's OnePass.

It could work, since Frontier's fleet is mostly 737s. It would have to happen before those Airbuses arrive though.

BTW, I haven't heard of this yet, but I will ask around tonight, since I am operating the red-eye to CDG (CO56) and will catch a bunch of the guys going out to Europe on the second round of departures. I'll let you know what I hear.

I don't believe that CO has invested in Frontier - I think they have a pass arrangement and FF program link, that's all...

I doubt this has much chance of happening, but in the airline world, you just never know.....
I still think that Frontier and AirTran would make for a good solid marriage.

I don't think that AirTran and Frontier would fit until AirTran gets even more focused on the business customers. Frontier is very focused on that market and it works well from DEN.

Plus, what about the Airbuses vs. the 717s/DC9s?

Good reasoning regarding the business focus

as for the fleets, I would think that the 717's and Airbuses will complement each other very nicely:
the 717's for the short routes and the A318/19's for the transcons.
as for the -9's, they are already on their way out, so they are not realy a long term problem.
