Boeing Cafe Ho Chi Minh City Closed (B 707)

Wed Mar 26, 2014 3:07 pm

Some years ago there was a thread about this B 707 stored close to the international airport of Ho Chi Minh City: What Is The Status Of Boeing 707 VN-A394? (by Fanofjets Mar 2 2009 in Civil Aviation)

So I planned to go there during a stop-over in HCMC. However, while preparing myself I found out that until August of last year the storage area has been used as a café but the owner complained that people only came there to see the B 707 (well, what else??   ) but didn’t consume anything:

It’s now impossible to enter the area on which the B 707 is stored. Furthermore, it's impossible to make one complete picture of this bird so I made several photos and thought it would be worth sharing these pictures.

Thank you N14AZ. I have an apartment less than 1 km away and am always intending to take pictures but never do!

Since we are on the subject of 707's off airport, does anyone have any photos of the 707 that was a restaurant in Manila in the mid 90's? Aside from the cockpit/interior shot on this site, I have never seen an outside shot of this a/c (N99WT) nor any information on it's demise. If I had to guess, it got hauled off for scrap, sometime in the early 2000's. I have searched everywhere for an image of this a/c (as a cafe) and have had no luck.

I haven't seen any later photos as well, nor know what became of it.
