Thu Mar 27, 2014 5:24 pm

London city airport was closed for a short time this afternoon. A Swiss plane ( LX ) had engine troubles just before the take of role and pax was evacuated. Airport now open again.

Exploding engine a minor technical incident?! 20 seconds more we'd been in the air“@PTBMade: @LondonCityAir ahem "minor technical incident""

Typically sensationalist reporting, quoting a passenger on the flight. Ok LCY is a STOL airport but get a grip, those other three engines on the RJ would have saved you!

Seems like a contained failure or compressor stall. Slow news day.
