The Future Of MD 11

Mon Nov 06, 2000 3:04 am

From what I have seen in Boeing's homepage, MD 11 is still in production. Is that true?

If yes, do you guys think Boeing will keep this product in production for some more time? It doesn't seem to be a very old product.

That is a mistake. Boeing should update their page because the MD-11 is no longer offered for sale. It just isn't competitive for passenger service but was still being ordered for Freighters. I think Boeing made a mistake there because there was still a signifigant market. They wanted to protect their own "homegrown" products though and want to push the 767-300 freighter but not many are going for it. Most buyers are choosing second hand MD-11 and brand new A300-600 instead.
