JetBlue And SLC

I've heard rumours-and they are just that-rumours-that JB has aspirations to set up a hub in SLC to serve the West Coast. Can anyone confirm or disspel that rumour?
I would also like to add that I happened to notice that JB's customer comment cards have a mail to address that is in Salt Lake City. Unless they are going to some consulting company, JB must have an office of some kind there. Why do that unless you have some idea of building a presence that would justify having a corporate center of some kind? Mr Neelman was a founder of the late Morris Air, which happened to also have its hub at SLC. And we all know that airline CEO's tend to come back to cities they did well in before. As discussed before, apparently Delta wants to reduce or eliminate its SLC hub. This would provide a nice opportunity for Delta to unload some of those routes via some kind of marketing agreement just like American did with Reno Air in SJC and Midway in RDU. Granted, JB still needs to mature a bit and firmly entrench themselves in JFK before branching out....any thoughts/comments?

If another person mentions that Delta is closing its SLC hub, i will go into a violent rage... well no... but you get my point. Delta is expanding services at SLC, one might see that because THEY ARE BUILDING A NEW TERMINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!. JetBlue serves SLC, thats why theu have an office there.

Ok, David Neeleman is indeed a native Salt Laker, who moved to GreenwichCT to begin jetblue. However as he had a sizeable staff and network (of friends) in slc, he built the reservations headquarters there with supporting admin staff. Thats the extent of it. He has started the red eye daily JFK-SLC route which has only put fuel on the fire that if a second hub is opened it will be SLC. Other than that, nothing has been proven and David still lives in Connecticut where his children attend school. the airlines operations base is in Kew Gardens queens and the flight hub is of course in jfk.

Who knows? Neeleman was the founder of Morris Air, which basically, when bought by SWA, had a hub operation at SLC.

JetBlue put its customer service in SLC for a couple of reasons: First, Neeleman is from SLC, so he's familiar with the area. And I'm sure the SLC flight is tied into that. Their customer service/reservations is set up to a large degree as a virtual call center. They employ a bunch of stay-at-home moms (more common in Utah due to religious/social reasons) to take reservations calls from home. They save on infrastructure and manage to tap a considerable available labor pool. (Not to mention that it makes Neeleman look better in the eyes of the LDS church - but that's an entirely different story.)

All that said - I think a Salt Lake City hub is unlikely for JetBlue. They started in NYC because fares were high there - especially to upstate NY and the rest of the Northeast. The yields and traffic are too low at SLC. Not to mention that entering a market to compete on price against Southwest seems suicidal - look at Vanguard.
