Jetblue Going To SNA

Tue Nov 07, 2000 1:01 pm

I am not sure if Jetblue is flying to ONT yet but early next year it is rumoured that Jetblue is going to be flying into SNA. The flight will be an evening flight going to JFK (no surprise)
Has anyone else heard about this!

That would be great. No other airline serves SNA from JFK other than TWA. Furthermore, TWA's commitment
to JFK and its ability to make money there is virtually
non-existant. I personally predict that in two or more
years, TWA will only serve CAI, TLV, CDG, LAX, STL,
CDG, and a handful of Caribbean destinations from
JFK. SNA is a natural destination for JetBlue and a
terrific addition to its existing ONT and OAK service.

JetBlue is a terrific airline. I flew them two weeks
ago to Burlington VT and back. The flights were
great.

It would make sense if it weren't for......a WAITING LIST!

Sorry guys, but John Wayne happens to be one of the slot restricted airports on earth and while every airline (pakistan international included) would love to fly there, they can't because it's limited. So while SNA would be a great addition to JetBlue's daily red eye transcons, it will be very difficult to get in there. I haven't even begun with airport fees! Let me say its no MidAmerica or AustinBergstrom.

Iain, it was you who actually explained this to me.

Also, Iain, while the ONT website may not have it yet, JetBlue is indeed flying a daily JFK-ONT flight along with its daily SLC and OAK.

Although this is just a rumour there are a few airlines that will be flying out of SNA next year. Frontier and Aloha are some. I heard the Jetblue rumour from some one who knows some one quite high in JB. How reliable it is I do not know but I would not be surprised to see them there next year.

I am aware Air Canada has been waiting for 3 years to get in to SNA. Aloha Airlines would also love to start up service however again, no slots are available.

Wait a minute. I realize SNA is slot-restricted. But if that is the case, then how did TWA just commence JFK-SNA service?

I think SNA should allow more airlines in as prices are incredibly high to fly into that airport. JetBlue would be a great addition!

I have not heard about AC flying to SNA, but I do know that Aloha is going to start flying out of there next year also!

Do you think Jet Blue will ever consider Burbank. I know they have a 10.00pm curfew but that would still be a decent red eye time. Are there any reasons they can't go for a slot at BUR. I think it would do extremely well.

While we're talking- Why not Mid America for JetBlue? Can they take on TWA's mainline JFK-STL route?

Rumor Killer

Wed Nov 08, 2000 7:34 am

hey guys!

i work for jetblue.

we have absolutely no plans to fly into SNA...or burbank. ONT is doing great for us now.

middle america? does SLC count? cause we open there the 17th. chicago pops up every now and then, but that wont be anytime soon.

here is what i keep hearing:

san juan
new orleans
san diego
washington-dulles

hope this helps...

San Juan! Oh no, that would decimate TW's yields.

San Diego is a very logical fit, when will SEA and PDX be added?

MSY is a smart move also, it currently has no service to JFK, TW has dropped the route.

Dulles, ehh? Like the washington area doesn't have enough service already, UA, WN, DL, and US.

well, san juan is the big rumor going around. LA was a big rumor, and that turned out to be true. (oakland too for that matter) i think we would make a killing from NY to there.

san diego, cause the west coast has been doing great. havent heard anything about seattle or portland.

MSY is a strong rumor.

washington has always been talked about, but in light of the UA/USAir gimick, this will probably be put off.

syracuse (if i spelled that right) should happen in 2001

remember, after SLC we wont be opening anything till most likely april 2001. so a lot can happen 'tween now and then.

I am not sure what you do for Jetblue but it was another jetblue employee who informed me about this! Are you trying to keep a secret?

Any chance there would be service to ITH? With Cornell University, Ithaca College and SUNY Binghampton nearby, it would be a smart move!

I honestly do not know where he works what he does, he just told me that he had heard about it and as there are a few airlines going to be starting service to SNA next year I thought it could work!
