Which Airport Has The Most 727 Visits?

Tue Nov 07, 2000 11:22 pm

Can any one tell if there's such and where it would be.
I can only guess several in the US. But which??
Kindest regards,

I do not know but my guess'd be Chicago O'Hare as UA and AA who both have quite some 727s in their fleet are based there.

I would say Memphis b/c of FedEx, Northwest, and Delta.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe AA doesn't use the 727 at ORD. All of the 727s have moved on to DFW and MIA.

ATL seems like a good guess, DL has a huge number of 727s.

I would say Miami definitely. AA has a large amount of their 727 fleet based there, and lots of Caribbean and South American operators use the aircraft as well.
Atlanta is a possibility because of DL, but I kind of doubt it would have more than Miami.

The above could all be it. But, how about LGA or DCA or even BOS? Even with the transition to new planes, the DL and US Shuttles still operate a number of 727s there. Also, LGA and DCA can not support that large a plane which means that there's a bias towards small planes like the 727 at such airports. In percentage of flights, these two airports have to be up there.

Definitely not Europe or Asia, these great birds are truly rare here thesedays! Thats something to envy you guys in the States. But actually TWA has withdrawn them from use, Delta starts...how long will AA/UA/NW still fly them? Well, with UPS/Fedex still flying -100s there might be joyful more years to see B727s in the US!

Hmmm... that is an interesting topic. I thought that ORD might be close, with UA having a few of them, but another one that no one has mentioned is DFW. Does AA fly many of them there? What about DL? ATL should have quite a few, I also see tons of them. If someone actually takes the time to figure this out, it would be interesting to see. Where are UPS's hubs, I know they have a good number in their fleet.

I would say definately MIA... I have gone there a few times spotting and everytime I go to Europe I fly out of MIA and I always see dozens of AA, Cargo airlines, and several South American aircraft.
