Trump Shuttle---Still Alive?

Wed Nov 15, 2000 4:54 am

Yesterday, when taking off (after a 45 minute wait on the taxiway), we passed a Trump Shuttle 727 (with winglets!). It was abandon, however.

Is the Trump Shuttle stil alive? Who does this aircraft beling to, Mr. Trump?

That must cost a lot to park there!

Nope. Trump Shuttle was first leased (the operating rights and the aircraft) to US Air Group, Inc. which then bought the entire operation in 1999.

The Trump Shuttle operated ex-Eastern Air Lines B727-200's and B727-100's
for the flights to DCA and BOS from LGA. Some of those jets made it over to
US Air which has since replaced all of them with A320 and A319 equipment.

Trump also briefly operated a little known service on weekends between BOS and YUL. Apparently the 727s were not needed as much on the weekends.

Some of those USAir Shuttle 727's are still in NxxxTP reg.(something like that) indicating that they were once owned by Trump.

Trump also operated service to Orlando at one point, as I clearly remember seeing and photographing a couple of Trump Shuttle aircraft at MCO around 1990/91.

I have also seen a Trump 727 at LGA recently, on the same side of the airport as the Marine Air Terminal, near the intersection of the two runways. Could it be Donald Trump's personal aircraft?

If The Don as we New Yorkers like to call him owns his own building then the possiblity of him owning his own 727-200 is quite possible. I'm sure that a rich man like himself can afford the plane parking at LGA.

The Donald indeed does own his own private Being 727-200. It is black with gold accents and says "Trump" in small letters near the front. The Trump Shuttle 727-200s were white with a red cheat-line and a large red "T" on the tail.

When Trump went bust, his creditors reposesed the airline and renamed it Shuttle Inc. Shuttle eventually agreed to fly as US Airways Shuttle untill 1999 when US Airways bought Shuttle from The Donald's creditor banks. As mentioed US Airways quickly began retiring the 727s and replaced them with DC-9s untill the new A320 and A319s complete the fleet.

Incidentally, as times are good now, The Donald, last I heard, had acquired a new Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) which I assumed would replace the 727.
