Anyone Flown Lab?

Thu Nov 16, 2000 8:11 am

I'm flying to Bolivia to spend a few days there, since I have never been to that country, before flying down to Buenos Aires. Miami-Santa Cruz non-stop on LAB.
Anyone out there who can give me a report on this airline?? I chose them because they told me that service is not bad, so instead of the old boring AA I decided with them. BTW, Santa Cruz's airport code is VVI, kind of weird, I wonder what it's stands for.... (you can see I'm excited about this trip...   )

Also, is it hot, cold or what in Bolivia?? I was told that up high in the mountains it's quite chilly all year round, but I'm not sure what to take along, I want to pack as little as possible, since I know it will be hot in Buenos Aires.

Gracias! (Merci, Danke, Grazie... )

I have flown Lloyd Aero Boliviano back in june from GRU to La Paz, on their sole A310. I found their service something VASP-like, so not bad but nothing special, but considering you are used to American carriers' service, you might find it something different, and therefore not too bad.

I have been told that in the past their service was better, then again so was that of most airlines...
Overall, you wouldn't expect anything extraordinary, but ceartanly it has a very good reputation I think you will find it quite good, specially when you consider Bolivia is a very poor country, so they do deserve even more praise for having a good airline in such conditions. About the weather, Santa Cruz de la Sierra is mostly hot all year round. If you are going to La Paz, then do take a jacket, it is chilly. Also altitude is a big factor, you must take it very seriously and take the necessary precautions.

Finally, don't be fooled by Buenos Aires and summer. I know LOTS of people who are going there in December & January, thinking it will be hot and toasty. You better take some cold weather clothing. Yes it will be mostly hot, but you will have days when it's windy, rainy, and cold. Furthermore, I read on the newspaper that this year could be one of those 'summerless' summers down there. (cloudy, rainy, cool, LONDON type weather, yuk).
