UAL Beginning A320 Service To Roc?

Fri Nov 17, 2000 10:28 am

Did some flight searches and I found that some UAL flights in the future that will be operated out of ROC have the A320 as the equipment. True?

I just ran today, Dec 2, and Jan 20 on the UAL website. UAL must be starting Airbus flights on ORD-ROC in January, because I turned up all 737s and 727s on Nov. and Dec.

Jan. 20 shows six daily flights--
1 A320
1 A319
2 722s
1 733
1 732

So it looks like United is finally bringing the 320 to Rochester. That's typical of Big 6/ Oligopoly airline treatment of Rochester--we're the last to get any damn new nice planes. High fares and old planes are the Big Air norm at ROC.

JetBlue, meanwhile was first with the A320 to ROC in August. They fill five of them a day to JFK. US, UA and NW have been flying the fool plane for years and not sending them to ROC.

I wish United would start using their new A319/A320 aircraft on the ORD to ALB route to supplement their 737-300/500s.

Go to www.ual.com and run, say, January 20-21 through their flight finder, for ORD-ALB and return. If United is finally bringing new planes to ROC, they might be bringing them to similarly-sized ALB too.

I'm so glad that UAL is expanding its A320 operations. I really like those planes, dispite what people may think.
I would take an A320 over a 737, and having IFE, and better seats makes pax happy. I look foward to UAL using its Airbus fleet in more select markets.

I don't know if you know this, but USAirways is bringing the A320 or A319 on ROC routes to PHL.

Jeez... How many years have these airlines had A319/20s? We must be the LAST top 100 pop. city in the country to see these planes. Thanks, jetBlue, for a nice side-efffect of your presence.

Rochester and Syracuse are generally two of the last cities in the country to get anything good the airline industry has to offer. It didn't surprise me at all that JetBlue was the first to bring the A320 to Rochester. Big Air is too busy putting these planes on glamour routes and gouging us for props and old planes, to worry about good service.
