Will VS Get More Routes?

Sun Nov 19, 2000 8:37 pm

With about 7 B747-400s & around 10 A340s on order and with news of them to aquire about 5 B747-200s, how many new routes do you expect Virgin Atlantic to fly?
It's been said that Sydney and Bahrain are possibilities but where else do you expect them to start services to?
Some South American routes would be interesting.

Cheers,
Jamie.

I hope VS would start some more services from MAN such as JFK,EWR and LAX. They only operate 6x weekly 747 service to MCO at the moment.
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!

They're looking to add a new JFK flight. Governments permitting, of course...

Louis-
Is that between JFK & MAN or JFK & LHR/LGW?

Virgin has no extra capacity right now to start new services. The 747-400's are replacements for the 747-200's and the A340 deliveries are considerably far
off. Virgin is stretched to the limit right now, utilizing a leased 747-300 on one
of its MCO flights.

Hopefull Virgin will fly to the middle East with TWA and to destinations the the Carribean and South America once they get more 747s leased and the A340-600 aircraft will be delivered within a few years.

Why on earth would VS want to link up with TWA? With no East Coast coverage to speak of and weaker route system than the other major US airlines, TWA is
not a desireable partner for VS. Virgin have no flights to STL and I doubt this
is a city high on their priority list. As for the Middle East, VS would probably be
looking to add its own A321 services from London.

I wish Virgin would add some European flights, or at least codeshare with another carrier so people outside Britain could connect with their longhaul flights.
Cheers, Fqtv

P.S. is this already possible, if so how do I do it from Munich?

Englandair: they want to add a new LHR-JFK flight to the four daily that they already have. SIA also wants rights to this route. Perhaps VS is lobbying for this on behalf of SIA?
