As QF will configure its 789, what will the maximum payload range be? 14,100 km?

I would also like to know the answer to this.

I am sure it was discussed in the Qantas 787 dedicated threads but it will be difficult to locate.

If anyone can answer this question here or direct us to the relevant thread post where it is discussed and answered, it will be greatly appreciated.

PER-LHR is 14,500kms (7829nm), from what I can remember when the route was first announced QF said the flight may take a small payload hit at certain times of the year

Here is the thread on PER-LHR

I see another flight to continue onto AKL is already up.
https://flightaware.com/live/flight/ANZ ... /KIAH/NZAA

I wonder if they made a fuel stop and are also using this flight to compare the aircraft against the 772 that currently flies the AKL-IAH route. Although the 789 has no passengers aboard.

Probably a change of crew as well, the direct flight from CHS-AKL was just over 7200nm and about 17 and half hours flying time. Not sure about the comparing of the 772 to 789 as this very aircraft will be on the IAH route from December

EY operates two class 777-300ERs and their A330-200 fleet appears to be all two-class (their A330-300s are all three-class) so I am guessing they will operate the 787-9 on a mix of routes, some that can support a First Class cabin and others that cannot.

Does anyone know why Ethiopean chose RR for their B789's rather than GE that powered their B788's? I remember that subsequent to the B788 purchase they bought some of the "terrible teens" that happened to be RR equiped, but i'd have assumed they'd have gone back to GE for this latest purchase.

It likely comes down to the deal each engine manufacturer offered, but the RR will have a bit of an advantage in this application. Takeoff performance limitations out of ADD mean that ET's 787-9s will usually fly shorter Africa/Europe routes. For fuel consumption, the RR engine is at its strongest on shorter missions, while the GE pulls ahead on long-haul.

Well no 787 was delivered on Sept 30. Only 787-8 delivered in September was BA's on the 26th. Granted if it got delayed by even a mere day the delivery won't yet be up on Boeing's website to confirm.

I doubt that anyone in the know is allowed to answer, especially with deliveries to private customers like this one. I would also not pay too much attention to these indicative last of the month delivery dates, it's just an indication that it could be delivered that month. But if it's the next month it's not really an issue, it's not like the customer has already planned scheduled flights with this plane. Do we even know who the customer is? NYC777 production sheet lists RTX, that doesn't really tell us who they actually are.

Thanks for the reply seabosdca. As far as i'm aware Ethiopean are the only operator running both engine types on the same B787, so they would be in receipt of some very interesting comparative data for the Trent 1000 & GEnx.

I find it somewhat interesting that the 787-10 retains the double-bogey main landing-gear, while the A350-10 has a triple-bogey main landing-gear. I wonder how much more each version of the-10s weigh compared with the -9s. Of course Boeing has the 788 also which is lighter still!

787-10 is a A350-900 size plane, not A350-1000.

I wonder why SQ opted to keep the engines of the 78X white rather than grey like the rest of their fleet?

I remember reading early on that Boeing recommended airlines use white or grey for engine nacelles for performance reasons. However, many airlines have chosen instead to paint their 787's in full livery engines and all. Is there data that shows that airlines with white or grey (UA,NZ,SQ) nacelles are getting better performance than airlines with painted nacelles (AA, VS, VN) ?
