What Airport Is This II? Follow The Clues.

Tue Nov 21, 2000 1:02 pm

Can you guess the airport?????? It is not that difficult.

*The main runway is 2700 meters long. Pilots have to be careful landing because of birds and strong crossing winds that are common in the area when cold fronts arrive from the south.
*Has only one terminal climatized but with no fingers. Security is strict, with all the baggages passing through x-ray machines.
*Cargo traffic is small and the new passenger terminal will be built by the Canadians until 2003.
*American flies it daily and some other carriers operate mostly 737s.

good luck!!!!!!!!

UA and AA are the only US carriers serving this airport.
Both daily.

Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary are the only cities in Canada that UA serves. I doubt it's any of those.

How many do they have runway no matter small or main runway? The runway meter you mentioned at 2700 m the english runway is 8,859 ft. I don't see one of those runway for American and United served the airport! Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary are larger than 8,859 feet runway. I just don't get it. Double check the length runway again.

PS - Is it United Express serve not United?

Dellatorre just said that the airport was being built by the Canadians...not necessarily that it was in Canada. I don't know. How about Montevideo?

I am pretty certain it is Montevideo...just looked and saw the runway is 8800 feet. The 737 carrier would be PLUNA I gather. Am I right???

Trvlr is correct, the answer is Montevideo. Here is link that describes the new terminal which the Canadian company Architectura is designing:

Believe me, that was just one helluva guess! I looked at both AA and UA's route maps and that was the only destination I could come up with.

Here is a model of the new terminal:
