Singapore Airlines A340s

Singapore Airlines replaced most of their relatively new A340s with 777s, and from what was said Airbus was livid at this. Rumors had circulated that legal actions had been taken against Boeing by Airbus, is this true? Also, what became of the A340s?

I believe the 15 A340-300E's are still in SIA's hands, L1011, and they're still operating as normal. Their fate isn't clear yet, since SIA has also ordered the A340-500, due to arrive in 2003, if I'm not wrong.

We'll just have to wait an see.

Haha, I dunno, but I think its funny as s@#*!!!! Sneaky sneaky Boeing. Actually, I would assume that all is fair. I don't know how Airbus could take legal action against Boeing. Airbus still made money off of the deal, even though they don't have as many A340's in Singapore colors as they would like. I also doubt they would do anything to upset Singapore since SIA was the launch order for the A3XX.

Airbus said, they wouldn't offer the same guarantees for the ex-SIA A340, once they are in other hands. They will probably only offer the normal guarantees. Remember, that many aircraft deals are for aircraft and spare parts and free simulators and whatever else.

I really doubt, BTW, that Boeing will make even one $ of profit with this deal. The deal was strategically interesting for Boeing, and they did all they could.

SIA will give their A340s to Boeing and Boeing will sell them to EXISTING A340 customers eg Cathay etc..

SIA will get less 777s back for some reason (probably cuz the A340s were second-hand).

Airbus has said that it will not provide support, warrenty or guarentees if Boeing Co. resales them.
