No further info.
Please give more info.

Interesting - I also read that some A330 and 320s have problems with their tails (look at the posting on the "tail-less" SR A330 in ZRH.

Anyone has more info??? Seems this is interesting... this may prevent SIA from getting the A330s to replace the A310s....

They talked about it as hif it was a truly big problem.
At first, they schowed a 330 flying and they were speaking as if theyre has been a crash...
Gosh, I was scared !

Mr.BA, they sayd that it was not a problem from how the aircraft was built.
They just have to replace or repair something on the winglets.
By the way, corect me if I am wrong, but youre post looks like anti-airbus post...

SR will have their A32Xs wingfences replaced with a one-piece component wingfence. Dont know if this has to do with this problem.

I don't think there is a big prob. with their winglets since A320 has been in service for around ten years. I don't think A330 has too big prob. w/ the winglets too since the winglets WON'T make a plane crash, even tho it is not too good in their designs. To the max, a bad designed winglets would only give the plane some extra drag while it is supposed to reduce it.

Futhermore, aircrew on pprune have mentioned a design flaw in the A330's nosewheel steering mechanism or some such...mmmmm.

As the wing on the A340 is identical to the A330 why hasn't the 340 been mentioned ?

It's NOT the wing, it's the tail fin. Perhaps the the A340 was not mentioned, because the A330-200 has a different tail, than the A340 and A330-300.

Actually, if it is a 'problem' with the winglets, there is no danger to the security of the airframe.

According to the Airbus Minimum Equipment Checklist for the A330/A340 both aircraft can be dispatched with one or both winglets removed.

The only factor affected is range - by about 300-400nm.

A GF A340 was sent from LHR-BAH-AUH without its left winglet after being involved in a minor collision with a BA 757 on the tarmac at LHR in 1996.

I have just seen a AI telex that alerts A319/320/321 operators to carry out vert stab spar box inspections for local disbondment due to a problem in the production process.

No mention of the A330 is made
