Question About Flight Times And Entertainment

Thu Nov 30, 2000 8:55 am

I will be flying American Airlines soon from AUS to SJC first class on a md80 and 757-200.

On these flights, will a movie be shown. (flt time: 3 hrs. 11 mins.) It is a relatively short flight and I was just curious.

Thanks.

The MD-80 flight will defintely not, as AA's MD-80s are not equipped with IFE of any kind. The 757 will probably have short subject entertainment (CBS Eye on American, which includes things like Letterman, 60 Minutes, Everybody Loves Raymond, Becker, etc.), but it might have a movie. I think, however, that 3:11 is probably too short for a full length film.

I am going to agree with Purdue Arrow. I fly on a AA MD-80 last week in First and there weren't any TV monitors so there is no way there will be any IFE. The 757 will have monitors in the aisle. On all the AA 757 flights I have flown in first they have never shown a video. They will show the CBS Eye on American thing Purdue Arrow talked about.

757 do have movies if they are long enough, AA737. For expamle, AA sometimes flies the SAN-JFK route with 757s, and has several 757 flights from the west coast to Boston. These flghts all show movies. The only reason that I doubt a movie would be shown on SJC-AUS is the short duration of the flight... it would be a similar length to DFW-west coast, and those flights do not show movies.
