Comming back to QR my issue is what exactly does QR intend to do with all the new 350s that could potentially come online in the near future. Surely getting 2-3 per month simply isn't feasible with regards to their operations. They're already overstocked with aircraft after the blockade. I don't see them being able to take more than 2 per month. Meanwhile Airbus keeps producing their frames on time. Basically meaning that there is simply going to be a lot of QR frames at some point of production for at least another year.

Perhaps another OW airline could come to the rescue. The IAG three...BA, IB & EI all need new frames and all have A350s on order. QF may also jump at the chance to get a discount on the A350, CX too.

Any indication on when MK will receive their first A350 then? Flights on inaugural regional route MRU-JNB have been moved forward to middle-October.

I believe QR may just pull another fast one and order some 787s just to put the pressure on Airbus. They may then threaten with further cancellations.

MSN 136 (LH #5) is departing on its delivery flight #LH9922. MSN 130 (TG #6) following behind it #TG8908.
Deliveries #42-43 of 2017.

Add to that another test flight for MSN 83 (QR #17) for a fulsome day in TLS.

MSN 145 should roll out in the first half of September, thus a delivery in early October is most likely.

The DL 350's are being assembled at a good clip. It looks like parts for DL #7 should be arriving in TLS reasonably soon, and the first one was delivered only a month ago!

Or perhaps take their 77w's out of service, defer their 787-9's and cancel their 77X's?
If we're being daft.

On a serious note though, if overcapacity is a problem, I'd expect the A350-1000's to replace 77W's
And if there's an issue with taking A350's (and I'm not convinced there is), presumably there will be a similar issue with the 789's.
And that surely implies a real problem for the 777X's

I just dont get this kind of logic. You are talking about hundreds of millions of dollars. Even billions depending on the size of the orders. Not to mention the millions in penalties. Nobody in their right mind, especially an airline, would use that as a tool to slap another company on the wrist.

We did. They converted the order for A320NEO's into an order for A321NEO's ....
And if I remember correctly changed engines from P+W GTF to CFM Leap in the process.
Are you suggesting they cancel the A350-900's and order more A350-1000's?

I still haven't quite worked out the logic that says that cancelling A350's and then ordering more 787's is a rational solution to your perception that 2-3 new aircraft per month gives QR a big capacity issue.

As I said above, if they really do have a capacity issue, then a) deferrals, and b) replacements (e.g. 77W with A3510/779) seem more obvious answers than ordering yet more planes.

Converting to A321 gives Qatar airways an excuse to ignore A320 deliveries altogether until they can find a legal way to get out of some of the 321s. As for the 350 they have already found a reason to ensure able to legally cancel 4. There's no reason why they shouldn't or couldn't cancel more and switch to the 787-9 as a way of sticking it to Airbus. You obviously haven't been following the career of Akbar Albakr to believe that this isn't a possible move for QR.

And these messages directly pertain to the A350 and it's production.

I was going to point out that there was a relationship to a350 production and delivery - right up until I read the post below yours.

I wholeheartedly agree that sticking to the realities of A350 deliveries is far more pertinent to the thread than playing out some obscure fantasy or other.

Unnecessary.
I had already volunteered the same.
And before your somewhat untimely reminder.
It would be nice to see the same behaviour demanded of certain other posters.

What happened to painting the A350s in a special livery, as was discussed earlier? IIRC, there were also some images floating around of artist interpretatons.

What happened to painting the A350s in a special livery, as was discussed earlier? IIRC, there were also some images floating around of artist interpretatons.

My understanding is that it's a special one-off livery and it will only be applied to one frame of each type

Anyone know if the wing twist from the -1000 has been updated onto the -900 yet?

-900s are getting updates from the -1000. e.g. the wing, NLG (now silent on rotate :)) and other small parts are different than on early MSNs. If the wing twist is already part of the updates, I don't know.
