Manchester Re-surfacing

Sat Dec 02, 2000 10:32 pm

Does anyone know when the re-surfacing of Manchester's taxiway beside the start of 24R will be completed? I live in Leeds and come down once a month to photograph the aircraft, but find with a 70mm lens, they are too far away when at The Airport Hotel/Pub!

Also, the noise of them taking off isn't the same when they're further away, with the exception of the odd heavy that backtracks down.

And, while on the subject of Manchester, I heard Air Maritius is now operating an A340. Is this true?

Thanks for any help.

Air Mauritus are operating an A340 once a week via Brussles this winter. It will be non-stop in the summer.
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!

Hi there!

The re-surfacing will be complete by the time the new runway opens in February 2001.

By the way, don't bother with the airport pub for photographs, there are many other good locations for photos even whilst this taxiway is closed.

You just need to drive around the other side of the perimeter a little.

GKirk is right-on with regards to the Air Mauritius services - shame neither of you can spell it correctly though

Hope this helps!
