Star Alliance Livery

Sun Dec 03, 2000 11:37 pm

Since the inception of Star Alliance a couple of years ago, we have been lucky to be given a visual treat of various a/c in those hybrid colour schemes. First was the one showing the combined liveries of the founder airlines.

Then, as more and more airlines joined into the "global cartel", we see the livery evolve and grow with more and more logos of partner airlines.

But why is it that why some airlines like Singapore Airlines and Mexicana do not have such a livery applied to any of their aircraft. I think the least they could have done is to add the Star Alliance logo (no matter how small) on some visible part of the aircraft exterior. Aren't they proud to be partner airlines?

And also another question is why does oneWorld partner airlines also do not have special markings nor liveries on their aircraft?

I think by having more of those hybrid "alliance colous" would give the alliance a lot of public attention and exposure to prospective clients. What think you?

But at least they have the insignia on the front of the fuselage between the cockpit windows and the no.1 door.

Yes, SIA are being left out of their own accord. I wonder why? Bit dodo-ish of them don't you think?

They have it on their timetables and their adverts though

Mexicana did have Star Alliance B757 and A320 colours.

The only airlines that have no Star Alliance colour are Air NZ, Ansett, SIA

Do you think that Singapore was maybe holding up to put the logos on to continue to show their support towards their other mileage member from the US. Maybe they had terminated it after joining Star-Alliance but I believe that they did have a mileage sharing alliance with either Delta or American. I might be wrong so feel free to correct me.

how about SIA's 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic?? doesn't it seem to clash with the Star Alliance partnership? Sigh, even with that stake in vigin, i still haven't seen any them in the flesh (or metal, for this matter) in SIN yet!
