LAX Hilton is awesome. The hotel is sandwiched between the two sets of parallel runways. I can go spotting from the comfort of my bed! There are great views from this hotel.

The Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport in Kansai International Airport, Osaka, Japan is awesome. Its located close to the terminal and its easily reached by a "skybridge" with a moving walkway. Service and food is excellent. Its 12 stories tall.

Nikko Kansai is so great except the view from rooms. Because KIX passenger terminal is so glamourous, Most sight is blocked by the structure. Don't expect 'Marine runway' view. But for just one hotel, it's so great. Extremely low noises, Good restaurants and shops, and great monument of a baseball.

New Orleans Airport Hilton

Mon Dec 04, 2000 3:43 am

While certainly not the largest airport hotel, this Hilton located directly across the street from MSY is very, very nice. It has a great restaurant and sports bar, a nice gift shop, pool/excersise facilities, good amount of meeting rooms, gorgeous lobby area and courtyard and, of course, the great Hilton service. Rooms are real nice too. I'd reccomend it for anybody visiting MSY who wants to stay near the airport. Hilton just opened up a Garden Court Inn near the airport, but I have not seen it yet.

The Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur International Airport won some award for Best Airport Hotel 2000.

The hotel is strikingly gorgeous - it just needs the business from more passengers at KUL!

I also like the LAX Hilton. Get a room on a higher floor and you'll have great views of the runways. The hotel itself is nice, with decent restaurants, plenty of parking, and good service.

Mas777:

I have stayed at the Pan Pacific hotel in Vancouver, BC. It was remarkable. I can see why it would be named #1. And at $580/night -- it freakin' better be!

Something to watch out for: DFW is demolishing the Hyatt West (the Hyatt East will remain up) in preparation for the new terminal. In its place: a brand-new luxury hotel (unknown if Hyatt will operate it). Should be snazzy.

I've stayed at both the Hilton and Westin at LAX. They both have great planespotting views.

As Blink182 notes, the Hyatt DFW is one of the best spotting hotels. The east hotel tower overlooks American's main concourse.

The Hilton at LAX is good--make sure you ask for a high floor and any room ending in 31 (1231, 1431, etc.). That would be a corner room directly overlooking the south runway complex. You also get a great view of those strange light-column-thingies that LAWA has installed down middle of the road--they're very pretty, if odd, after dark.

The Marriott at LAX is also good--if you get a room in a high floor in the tower, facing West (towards the airport). You have to look to your right to see aircraft on the south complex, but you also see the arrivals on the north complex. The bonus at the Marriott is that you can open the window and hear what you're watching (smell it too--nothing like the scent of jet exhaust!). It's also got a GREAT pool.
