Name For The A-3XX

Mon Dec 04, 2000 1:51 pm

any suggestions as to what airbus will / should call the a-3XX ?
next in line should be the a-350, but would an a-347 not be much more a slap in the face to boeing (or do they have right son 347 ?)

any suggestions ?

There was an extensive discussion on this topic up until a few days ago. Consensus was it will stay as A3XX or it'll be A380.

It is too bad it has developed the identity of "A-3XX" that is no name for a plane that is described as such a glorious aircraft. I believe that they should give it a number sequence like the rest of Airbus's planes (and Boeing for that matter). Whats next, the A-3YY? Sounds goofy to me too.

XX is a generic experimental designation. When it is launched, it will more than likely be the A350 (which hints at the 555 seating).

Where on earth does A380 come from????
It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens.

A350 sounds pretty good, A3XX sounds for experimental, but not for a done thing.

I've wondered...how do you pronounce A3XX? Ay three ex ex?
I heard it will become the A350; wouldn't be kind of dumb to leave it A3XX: A330, A340, A3XX???
