Continental 767/777

Thu Dec 07, 2000 8:46 am

Continental has a lot less seats in its widebodies. The 777-200ER is able to carry 320 pax in a 3 class layout. CO's hold 280 in a 2 class layout. The 764 can carry 245 passengers in a 3 class layout. CO's hold 235 in a 2 class layout. Delta puts 280 seats in their 764's in a 2 class layout. Does CO put a lot of Business First seats in or something?

Remember, DL's 764 is not equipped with BusinessElite. In the half the space of the cabin normally containing BizElite, DL can fit thirtysomething of an upgraded domestic first-class seat, leaving more room for a lot of coach seats.

BusinessFirst is what is considered to be a low-density business class product, arranged 2-1-2 on the 767 and 2-2-2 on the 777 with a lot more legroom than your average business class on a three-class airline. The normal business class cabin seats one more seat per row than other three-class business classes, therefore increasing capacity where we reduce it.

The seats are a little wider on the 777, even in coach class. That is why they have less seats. Plus, they have taken a little extra space to put in a couple of larger restrooms for disabled people.

Guess I can't complain about the extra space.

Interesting fact announced by Gordon on his voice mail last Friday. For the first time in my 14years here at CO our passenger mix is now more than 50% business traveler.

I would like to thank all of those who have flown CO, your the ones who make my paycheck...

CALPilot, I heard that also but didn't get the chance to listen to it "in person".

Boy, we sure have come a long way since the Lorenzo era!

AMEN! It seems like the Lorenzo days are becoming more of a distant dream! Let's not forget that abomination called CALite...may it rest in the abyss!

Hello from Italy!! I am actually in Milan as I write this. It's 4:30am and I can't sleep and so here I am posting.
The Lorenzo days were long gone years ago. Continental is a very different airline today in every
way. Lorenzo had no vision, no understanding of any
aspect of airline economics. It's a shame that CO, which always was a sort of Tiffany airline got so run
down.

Anyway, my flight here was fab. Flew BizFirst on a
777 from EWR. Plane was about 75% full. Excellent
service, slight delay on departure. Malpensa is nice
but it is really far.

CALPilot and other CO employees:

I travel frequently on business, and am proud to be one of the 50% of your passengers who routinely fly your airline for business.

In fact, on my last flight I made Elite for 2001! Yahoo!

The reason I chose Continental? Consistency! I know when I get to the airport that I will make it to my destination on time, with my luggage, and get there with great customer service along the way.

I in turn thank you for making Continental the airline it is today. If it wasn't for great employees such as yourself, I wouldn't be flying your airline!

Hey Continental EWR -

Just curious from my previous experience - Did you have to de-plane to shuttles, or directly on a jetway?

Thanks

Hi Red-Eye,

I'm just back. It was a short trip. When I landed at MXP, I had to deplane using the shuttles, which was
annoying since a SR A320 and an AZ MD80 were
taking up jetways. I saw AA 767-300, DL 767-300,
and UA 767-300 and they were all parked at a jet
way.
